Wisconsin’s Nonfarm Jobs Reach Record High in November

The November jobs report was released by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, and it was yet another strong month for the Badger State. The total number of nonfarm jobs reached a record high of 3,020,300 during the month, an increase of 1,700 from October and 32,000 from this time last year.

Unemployment also held steady throughout the month, with the November rate of 3.3 percent, just 0.1 percent higher than the October rate. The state unemployment rate continues to outpace the national rate of unemployment of 3.7 percent. Labor force participation also continued to increase, rising to 65.9 percent in November, more than three percent higher than the national rate.

Gains in jobs across the state are largely being driven by the private sector, where the number of jobs increased by 3,700 from October and 28,700 throughout the course of the year. Additional growth is being seen in the healthcare and social assistance sector, which added 11,600 jobs year-over-year, and the construction sector, which added 3,300 jobs years-over-year.
