Packers Lose Close One to Giants

A week after picking up a huge win over the Kansas City Chiefs, the Green Bay Packers dropped a must win game against the slumping New York Giants, losing 24-22. The loss moves the Packers to 6-7 on the year and with just four games left in the regular season, makes their path to the playoffs that much more difficult.

The Packers offense lost a step after a brilliant performance against the Chiefs, and quarterback Jordan Love, who for the last few weeks has limited turnovers, threw his first interception since November 12th against the Steelers. He finished the day with 218 yards and a touchdown, in addition to the interception. Things did not get easier for him as he lost a fumble as well.

The team’s offense was also unable to capitalize at big moments. In addition to a fourth quarter missed field goal, the team was unable to score from the Giants 14-yard line after a muffed punt gave them great field position.

Ultimately though, the game came down to the final drive, and with the Packers leading by one, their defense needed to step up and get a stop to effectively end the game. But the Giants were able to drive down the field to kick the game winning field goal as time expired.

The Packers will look to get back to .500 as they return home to face the surging Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
