The Bureau of Labor Statistics released national jobs numbers for June 2024. The U.S. added 206,000 jobs in June, once again surpassing Dow Jones projections.

The job growth primarily came from government employment (+70,000), the health care industry (+49,000), the social assistance sector (+34,000), and the construction industry (+27,000).

Hourly wages also grew by 0.3 percent in June. Over the last year, hourly wages have increased by 3.9 percent.

Unemployment saw minor changes, with a 0.1% increase from May as the rate ticked up slightly to 4.1%. But job and wage growth are a sign of a strong labor market.

State and local data will be released by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development in the coming weeks.
